Chelsea Signs Brazilian Striker Alexandre Pato on Loan.

Top premier League club, Chelsea have signed Brazil striker Alexandre Pato on loan from Corinthians until the end of the season. According to Chelsea's Interim manager Guus Hiddink wo does not think the signing of Pato is a risk. "It's not a gamble. Coming on loan makes it possible to view if he can adapt to the league.



CSKA Moscow Turns Down an Improved Bid from Leicester City for Nigeria's Ahmed Musa

According to BBC Sport, Russian club CSKA Moscow have rejected an improved offer from Premier League leaders Leicester City for Nigeria's Ahmed Musa.
Moscow turned down a new bid of $26.5m (£18.7) which was an improvement on the original offer of $21.6m (£15.1m).

The Federal Government on Tuesday gave conditions for an out-of-court settlement with MTN Nigeria in respect of the N780bn fine imposed on the company by the Nigerian Communications Commission for having 5.2 million unregistered subscribers on its network. At the resumed hearing of the suit it filed to challenge the fine, MTN’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), had pleaded with the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, to give the parties 60 days to explore the option of settlement out of court.

I Received $2m Cash From Olisa Metuh - Witness

The trial of Olisa Metuh with respect to the charges of money laundering involving the sum of N400m which was allegedly collected from the office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014 took a new dimension on Monday as the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made available 18 witnesses it lined up against the PDP National Publicity secretary. One of the witnesses, Nneka Ararume told the court that she works for ARM as a Wealth manager, and also confirmed that she collected $2m cash from Metuh on December 2, 2014 with an instruction to invest the money on behalf of Metuh's Company, Destra Investments Limited. She also told the court that the cash was given to her in Metuh'd residence in Prince and Princess Estate, Abuja.

Metuh is standing trial for receiving N400m from embattled former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki and for destroying the statement he made to EFCC on January 12th. We Do not Recognise Passports Issued by Biafra - US, UK

The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have said they do not recognise the passports being issued by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra. The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Sunny Okereafor, had said two weeks ago that the passport was valid worldwide, adding that the travel document costs N5,000 while its renewal costs N2,000

50 Dead, Thousands Stranded as Cold Snap Spreads across East Asia

About 50 people have been confirmed dead in Taiwan and at least 60,000 tourists left stranded in South Korea as a result of Cold snap sweeping across East Asia. 
According to Taiwanese media, a rash of deaths from hypothermia and cardiac disease following a sudden drop in temperature over the weekend.

Why We Handcuffed Metuh - NPS

The Nigeria Prisons Service has explained why it put handcuffs on the National Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh while he appeared for his trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
NPS spokesman, Francis Enobore, told Punch that the officer in charge of the escort that took Metuh to court was at liberty to determine if the inmate should be handcuffed.

19 Killed, 50 injured in Millitants Attack in Bacha Khan University Campus Charsadda, Pakistan

An attack by suspected Taliban militants on a university in north-west Pakistan has killed at least 19 people and injured 50. An army official said firing had stopped several hours after the attack but troops were still searching Bacha Khan University campus in Charsadda. Four attackers were killed, the army reported, as the Taliban said four of its suicide attackers were involved.

Court Grants Olisa Metuh N400million Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the  National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, a N400million bail. Olisa is being tried for receiving N400 million from the $2.1 billion arms deal fraud. The judge has also  ordered Metuh to submit his international passport and that as part of his bail conditions and to provide two sureties with N200 million each. The sureties must have properties in Maitama district of Abuja.

Buhari Appoints Muhammad Abdallah as Chairman/CEO of NDLEA

Mr. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah has been appointed by president Mohammed Buhari as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). According to the statement released from the office of the Director of Press, office of the secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi, the appointment takes effect from January 11, 2016 and it is for a first tenure of five years.

US Rapper Mos Def Arrested in South Africa Over Illegal Travel Documents

United States  hip hop star, Dante Terrell Smith aka Mos Def‚  has been arrested in Cape Town‚ allegedly for not having a valid passport. According to Times live , “The South African Police Service (SAPS) has charged him with usage of fraudulent travel documents and the matter is currently before the courts‚” Home Affairs ministerial spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete said via Twitter. The arrest was on Thursday.
