Leicester City Close to Win Premier League Title

HISTORY chasing Leicester City on Sunday moved closer to the Premier League title with an emphatic victory over visiting Swansea.

The victory took the Foxes eight points clear and would see them be champions with five points from their remaining three games according to BBC reports.

Leonardo Ulloa, in for the suspended Jamie Vardy, scored a brace as he headed in after Riyad Mahrez’s near-post finish before poking home.

Swansea rarely threatened before Marc Albrighton wrapped up the win  by driving in a fourth.

If Tottenham fails to beat West Brom today then Claudio Ranieri’s side would be crowned champions with victory at Manchester United on Sunday.

In another important game, Sunderland climbed out of the relegation zone with a deserved point against Arsenal.

Both sides had penalty appeals for handball denied and Patrick van Aanholt struck Arsenal’s post with a free-kick.

Sunderland keeper, Vito Mannone had to be sharp to keep out Mesut Ozil’s free-kick and Alex Iwobi’s follow-up.

Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere came on for a first game in 10 months, but the visitors relied on numerous Petr Cech saves to preserve a point.

The failure to win could prove costly for Arsenal, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot, but lie just five points above fifth-placed Manchester United, having played a game more.

Sunderland may only have lifted themselves above Norwich City on goal difference, but they ended their four-game stretch in the bottom three and Sam Allardyce’s side had now lost just one of their last seven league games.
