LAGOS State to fix more than 43 Roads by Dec

The Lagos State Government has confirmed that it would rehabilitate 43 link roads and other major highways, as well as carry out comprehensive maintenance on drainage channels between August and December 2017.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works and Drainages, Temidayo Erinle, who stated this at a press briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, said the government was aware of the poor state of some roads in the state, adding that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had repositioned the Lagos State Public Works Corporation to address issues relating to potholes and drains in the state.

He said, “We are currently carrying out palliative works on our major roads through the application of boulders, crushed stones, and other materials to address potholes problem.

“I want to assure the people that immediately the rain subsides, the LSPWC will embark on massive repair of bad major roads.”

AKONUCHE BLOG gathered that some of the major 43 roads slated for repair to include Alfred Rewane, Ikoyi; Ojota Interchange; Agric Road in Oko Oba; Ifako Ijaiye Road, Central Avenue, Apapa; North Avenue, Apapa; Lateef Jakande Road, Ikeja; Gberibe Road, Ikorodu; TOS Benson Road, Ikorodu; Oke Sabo Road in Imota; Itamaga Road, Itoikin; Adeniran Ogunsanya Road Ikorodu; Admiralty way, Lekki; Topo Road, Badagry; Hospital Road, Badagry; and Ijesha Road, Surulere.

The special adviser said works had commenced to de-flood the state, adding that Lagos had been divided into five zones to combat flooding.

Erinle said in all the five zones, dredging of primary channels, as well as cleaning of collector and tertiary drains had been carried out, while a new drainage master plan had been developed to keep the state free of flood.
