Roger Federer Breaks Record, Wins Eighth Wimbledon Title

Roger Federer hit a record in tennis of eight Wimbledon titles on Sunday after a three-set win over Marin Cilic. Federer triumphed from start to finish against his opponent, recording a 6-3 6-1 6-4 victory after the match that lasted for an hour and 43 minutes. He has now won 19 Grand Slam titles.

Federer won the opening set in 37 minutes – breaking Cilic on two separate occasions. Cilic, who was competing in his first ever Wimbledon final, received treatment to his left foot during the contest, and this made the rest of the match challenging for him.
Federer, however, moved into a two-set 6-3 6-1 lead in just 25 minutes, and won 6-4 in the third.
