The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 28 Edo gubernatorial elections, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, while congratulating the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the Eid-el Kabir celebrations, has assured Edo people of better days ahead.

Obaseki, in his Eid-el kabir message, expressed optimism that Edo State and Nigeria in general will rise above the current economic challenges confronting her, and become a truly prosperous state where every citizen is empowered with opportunity to live life in its fullness.

"I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of the Eid-el Kabir celebrations. Edo State – and, indeed, Nigeria as a whole – is filled with so much potential for greatness, and I have full assurance that with sustained good governance and greater creativity and efficiency in exploiting our vast human and natural resources, we can guarantee a better, more prosperous future for our people.”

“Edo State belongs to all of us, and it is in our interest and that of our children that the state continues to progress. As we celebrate the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice, let us remember our dear state and country in our prayers, and continue to support the efforts of government towards building the Edo of our dreams.”

The APC flagbearer used the occasion to also preach peace and unity among all Edo people saying: “Let us set aside the things that divide us, and show more respect and tolerance to one other, irrespective of our religion, tribe or political leanings as we work together to steer our state on the sure path to prosperity.”
